Wassail the Winter Away

“Wassail the Winter Away”, Traditional Carols for Brass Quartet (Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba), arranged by Sarah Houle, 2022.

This quartet combines two little known traditional carols: “Drive the Cold Winter Away” and “Here We Come A-Wassailing”. The feel of the piece shifts back and forth from the lilting 6/8 two feel to the more blocky cut time. The melody is passed a bit between parts with different embellishments with each statement.
