This quartet arrangement features two holiday favorites: Veni, Veni Emmanuel and Carol of the Bells. The arrangement begins somber and reflective, with the melody floating over solid droning harmonies in the lower ranges of the supporting brass lines. The mood shifts quickly as the tuba takes over in a frenzied, repetitious motive from Carol of the Bells. This section ebbs and flows, building and relaxing, with the hectic feel of the original motive. The piece quickly slows into a restatement of the somber Veni, Emmanuel.
