Rum in the Galley

“Rum in the Galley”, by Sarah Houle, 2020, for Brass Quartet (Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba) and Piano/Vocal/Chords.

Rum in the Galley is a light-hearted and cheerful Pastafarian Pirate Drinking Song and a fitting number for the Pastafarian Hymnal. The tune sings of the joyful parts of Pastafarian piracy; sailing the seas with their friends and faithful parrots in a well-stocked ship. There are two verses, with the first, most memorable verse repeated towards the end. A unique addition to this piece is a jolly little instrumental hornpipe motive that builds the builds in excitement with the addtion of instruments. There is also a raucous “Rum, rum, rum! Rum in the galley!” section everyone can sing no matter how much rum they have enjoyed.

Enjoy, friends, for “Any can sail the seas with us and become a Pirate, too, when there’s rum, rum, rum in the galley!”
